Roll and shaft wear is the hidden cost of tube production: as shafts wear, the pass opens up and OD, roundness and weld quality drift until the mill must stop for re-roll. Mills with soft shaft material face frequent, expensive re-tooling and inconsistent output.
Ordinary shaft steel deforms and wears under continuous rolling pressure and heat, especially on the high-load forming and sizing stands. Once the pass profile shifts, every tube drifts out of tolerance, and frequent roll changes raise downtime and tooling cost.
Forming and sizing stands use 42CrMo roll shaft material, quenched, tempered and high-frequency hardened, for high wear resistance and a stable pass profile.
Overload-protected horizontal stands protect rolls and the drive train under abnormal load, reducing the risk of shaft and roll damage.
Side-pull quick-change frames simplify roll replacement when it is eventually needed, cutting maintenance downtime.

Every ZY20 runs one continuous flow from coil to finished cut tube. An uncoiler feeds strip through a 7-roll precision leveler that removes coil-set, then double-radius forming shapes it in 5 rough and 3 finish stands without edge wave. A 100 kW solid-state HF welder fuses the seam under squeeze pressure with a dedicated seam guide, and an automatic outside-burr unit clears the bead immediately. ≥10 t/h spray plus overflow-pool cooling locks the shape, the 6-horizontal + 6-vertical sizing train sets the diameter, and a 4-roll Turk head straightens the tube before the microcomputer flying saw cuts 4–8m lengths to ±3mm. Overload-protected stands and 42CrMo hardened shafts keep the whole line stable over long runs.
